The .44 Mag Flattop frame is slightly longer than the .44 Special frame, as I recall. It's at the gunsmith having the same sight work done as the Special. Can't compare them at the moment.

Since then special runs of New Model Flattop Blackhawks (blued and stainless) have been produced and chambered in .44 Special for Lipsey's and Talo.
